about

Explore Gibbons's exquisite consort music ranging from the tiniest treble viol to the gargantuan great-bass viol! The release was inspired by the June 2019 program The ‘Great Dooble Base’ - Music for Violone & Viol performed alongside Joanna Blendulf, Christopher Burrus, Michał Bylina, Jessica Powell Eig, Patrick Erickson & Eric Fisher at the June 2019 International Society of Bassists Convention, Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. This recording is dedicated to the memory of gambist Joan Boorstein (1942-2019) whose friendship, encouragement, enthusiasm & music-making is sorely missed.
